首先，我並須澄清，你說得不是我的原文，我沒有提到「後面需要一個受詞」，可能你過度
解讀我所寫的文字。再者，這裡的 "that" 並不是關代，而是同位語 (其實不必刻意去鑽研
文法用詞)，簡單說就是內容。
舉幾個個簡單的例子:
(1) He said that grammar was not the name of the game.
("that …" 是 "said" 的內容 )
(2) The statement that I am a liar doesn't make any sense.
("that…" 是 "statement"的內容)
(3) The statement that she made didn't make any sense.
("that" 就是關代，倒過來看就是 "she made the statement")
原句
Ms.Fernandez called this morning for confimarion that the payment she mailed
on Friday had been received.
並無法像第(3)句倒回去看， 直接念就知道了
"the payment she mailed on Friday had been received confirmation" (X)
還有一點就是，"confirm" 的用法，可以跟我 (1) 的例句一樣，也就是
"confirm that S + V"， "that" 就是 "confirm"的內容，請參考 [1] [2]。
所以你的解讀方式會產生一些瑕疵。
