疑問：答案是everyone，為何anyone不行

2.The statement reiterated the firm's commitment to upholding high moral
  standards ------protecting the interests of the shareholders.
疑問：(A)while (B)so that (C)because (D)unless四個選項中，答案是A，不了解
這連接詞while後，怎接protecting動名詞，是分詞構句型式嗎？若是，可否還原原句
