DESIGN GROUP
After a distinguished career as a senior researcher with Damon's Design Group,
Jon Harrison will retire on October 30. He hopes to spend more time with his
family and is planning to travel. He will maintain a home office and be
available as a consultant to his colleagues.
The research division will celebrate Harrison's long list of
contributions to the company and to the field of industrial design at a
November 10 reception, set to be held from 5 P.M. and 7 P.M. at the Moza Hotel.
Vice president Viola Ford and executive manager Sam Ballack will speak at the
event.
At Damon's, Harrison's made significant contributions to the producing
of innovative industrial products. He led his team in the design of more
user-friendly computer keyboards, which were a great hit in the market.
In addition, Harrison has authored more than 20 publications, including
The Art of Industrial Design. He is currently working on a new book that he
expects to finish next year. Harrison has also served as the president of the
Industrial Design Society, a fellow for the Center for Designat Conns
University, and a lifetime associate of the National Academy of Designers.
Harrison's current research interests include electronic product design,
with a focus on computer equipment.
Staff members must register before November 1 to attend the reception.
