答案是whom

我覺得怪怪
我的解釋1：
沒有先行詞，一般來說句子會是
The man opposite a man who had tears in his eyes.
或者是
The man who was sitting opposite a man who had tears in his eyes.

結果題目
The man opposite whom he was sitting had tears in his eyes.
                 ----
我不知道the man是坐著的？還是a man是坐著的？
the man眼中有淚？還是a man眼中眼淚？

然後中文我也翻不出來，因為那個whom不知道要還原到哪個位置？


二、
He beckoned her to approach, ___ she didn't.
答案是which

我覺得怪怪的，which的先行詞是什麼？ to approach嗎？
那句子不就變成
which she didn't = she didn't to approch  怪怪的
