- context of culture

of a discourse community, and that contribute to the meaning of their
verbal exchanges.
- context of situation
The immediate physical, spatial, temporal, social enviroment in which verbal
exchanges take place.
- contextualization cues
A term coined by anthropologist John Gumperz to indicate the verbal,
paraverbal, and non-verbal signs that help speakers understand the full
meaning of their interlocutor's utterances in context.

A term coined by the philosopher Paul Grice to characterize the basic
