Ting-Wen Wang (TPE), who had also remained unbeaten this year, did not
fair so well. Wang reached the girls' singles final without relinquishing
a set and looked on course for a 4th consecutive title when she took the
first set 63 and was points away from victory in the second set tiebreak.
Her opponent Chin-Wei Chan (TPE), however, held fast and took the second
set 8-6 in the tiebreak. Having gained the upper hand, Chan held on to take
her first title since winning the Asian Closed in December 2001. The
final score 36 76(6) 62.
