ELENA DEMENTIEVA

THE MODERATOR: Questions in English, please.

Q. Could you tell us what was the problem? You were not able to play your
best game today?

能不能告訴我們問題在哪裡? 什麼造成你今天沒辦法打出最佳表現?

ELENA DEMENTIEVA: Yeah, I just feel I'm far away from, you know, playing --
from being in the good shape. I feel like I couldn't, you know, perform
any better.

今天我覺得離我的好狀態有很大一段距離 我覺得我沒有辦法...再表現得更好

She was playing very solid, very good first serve. I was not able to just to
stand there. You know, just too many unforced errors and not enough power
from me. I did what I could.

他今天打得很穩固 一發很出色 我幾乎連站在場上都沒辦法
太多失誤了 力量也不夠 但我已經盡我所能了

Q. But did you know before the tournament started that you were not in
your best shape, maybe?

在法網開賽前你就知道自己不在最佳狀態了嗎?

ELENA DEMENTIEVA: Yeah, I mean, I was not ready, you know, to play at the
level that I want to play. I was trying to just, you know, be positive, fight
for every match, and trying to improve match by match.
But unfortunately, it's difficult to do. It's a very physical game when
itcomes to the clay courts, so it's not good for me.

嗯 我沒有準備好打出我想要的表現 我曾想要積極一點
一場一場奮鬥 一場一場進步 但不幸的是 這太難辦到了
在紅土球場上體能的要求很重要 所以對我來說並非好事

Q. Is it something like a physical problem or...

所以是身體方面的問題嗎?

ELENA DEMENTIEVA: Well, I just think I have to work on my physical condition,
to get in a better shape. So I hope I have enough time to get ready for
Wimbledon and, you know, physically feel much better than this week.

我想我得加強我的體能條件 我希望我能有足夠的時間準備好溫網
在體能上比這星期感覺更好

Q. Is it one of your bigger disappointments here in Paris?

這是你在巴黎比較大的失望之一嗎?

ELENA DEMENTIEVA: I had so many.

我已經有很多失望的經驗了 (天啊 未免回答的太哀傷)

Q. How much do you think Sam Stosur has improved since you last played her in
the Australian Open in January?

比起在澳網對上他的時候 他進步了多少?

ELENA DEMENTIEVA: Well, actually I think the way she was playing in
Australia was also very impressive, and I always have tough matches against
her. I think she really improve, you know, for the few years.

說實話 我覺得他澳網打的也非常令人印象深刻
我對上他總是打的很辛苦 我想他這幾年真的有進步

It's really difficult to play against someone who is so fit. And, you know, her
serve was very unusual for the woman's game: lots of speed and very difficult
to return. I mean, she has a very powerful game.

對上狀態這麼好的對手是很困難的 而且你知道他的發球在女網中並不常見
速度很快 又很難回發 他打的力道十足

Q. Let me make you a little question about men's draw. Do you think that
anybody could win or beat Nadal here? And in this case, who?

我想問你個小問題 你覺得有人能贏下冠軍或是打敗Nadal嗎? 如果有的話會是誰?

ELENA DEMENTIEVA: Well, it looks like he's -- I mean, he actually looks a
little bit tired to me. Even he's winning pretty easily his first two rounds,
it doesn't look like he's fresh enough. Maybe he was playing too much.
I think it's going to be tough challenge for him to win this time, actually.

對我而言他這次看起來似乎有點累 即使前兩輪都輕鬆獲勝
但他看起來並不是那麼精力充沛 也許他之前打太多了
我想這次他要贏下冠軍會是一個比較艱難的挑戰

Q. What are you expecting to do between now and Wimbledon?

你期待在到溫網之前這段時間做些什麼?

ELENA DEMENTIEVA: Um, I'm going to take two days off and then just try to
work on my, you know, physical condition and make sure that I'm going to be
ready to move in the right direction on the grass court, because, you know,
it's very special. Just trying to get ready for Wimbledon.

我現在要休兩天假 然後要就體能方面訓練
確定我會真的準備好 並且往正確的方向前進草地球場
因為對我來說這很特別 我要試著準備好溫網

Q. But you have always been one of the fittest players, physically-wise, so
you think you have to work even more?

但你這幾年來一直都是身體上最好的選手之一 所以你覺得你甚至該更加努力訓練?

ELENA DEMENTIEVA: Just getting older, I guess.

我想我年紀越來越大了..
