The Executive Board (EB) of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) today
approved the inclusion of a mixed doubles tennis event at the 2012 Olympic
Games in London.
國際奧運執行委員會同意在2012倫敦奧運增加混雙項目。

The requested change came from the International Tennis Federation (ITF) as
part of the IOC’s systematic review of the Olympic programme.
這是國際網球協會(ITF)提出來的要求。

The changes reflect the IOC’s desire to continually refresh the programme,
as well as its commitment to increase women’s participation.
這項改變反應國際奧運總會(IOC)想要持續求新求變以及其對於增加女性參與的承諾。

The inclusion of the mixed doubles event will not increase the current number
of athletes but will bring an added value to the Olympic programme by
providing another opportunity for men and women to compete together on the
same field of play.
增加混雙項目不會增加參賽運動員的數目，但是讓男女有機會一起競爭，以此增加奧運價
值。

“The ITF is very happy and grateful that the IOC Executive Board has decided
to add mixed doubles to the programme for the Olympic Tennis Event for London
2012 and beyond,” said Francesco Ricci Bitti, ITF President.
"ITF很高興IOC決定在2012年奧運增加混雙項目，"ITF主席Francesco Ricci Bitti說。

“We believe that this addition will make Olympic Tennis a truly unique event,
with top players having the opportunity to compete for their countries and the
honour of an Olympic Medal in three distinct disciplines: singles, doubles and
mixed doubles. The ITF thanks the IOC Executive Board for their continuing
support of tennis in the Olympic Games.”

→ VWilliams:能得到一定程度的休息(但現在也很少人同時打三項了)
→ VWilliams:如果要在一週內 要選手參加單雙混雙 會有一定程度的困難
