Madrid, key in deciding the WTA No.1 spot.

After over ten months the Russian, Maria Sharapova, could return to No.1
ranking replacing Serena Williams, depending on her performance in the Mutua
Madrid Open.


馬德里是決定球后歸屬的關鍵所在

經過了十個月，莎娃在馬德里的表現，將決定她是否能取代小威回到世界第一






In the 2012 Mutua Madrid Open, Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova crossed
paths in the quarter finals where the American won convincingly on the way to
winning the title at La Caja Mágica.

在2012年的馬德里公開賽中，小威和莎娃在八強交手
老美有力地勝出，最終在魔術盒球場取得了冠軍

In this year’s tournament which starts on Friday 3rd May, the competition
and the reward will be far greater that the Madrid Mutua Open trophy. The
world No.1 ranking is on the horizon, with a chance for the Russian to regain
her place at the top of the podium ten months after previously being No. 1.

今年比賽將開始於五月三日（五），奪冠的競爭和報酬將強上許多
俄羅斯人在十個月後，又有機會奪回世界第一







Serena will be arriving to La Caja Mágica with the challenge of defending
her 1000 points that declared her champion in 2012, meanwhile Sharapova (who
was knocked-out in the quarters) wants to maintain the 250 that she obtained
last time. The current situation means that MaSha could leave La Caja Mágica
with the No.1 title under her arms.

與此同時，去年止步於八強的莎娃，也想保住她去年得到的250分

The European will regain top spot in the WTA if she is crowned champion at
the Mutua Madrid Open. Even if Serena loses to Maria in the final, it still
will not be enough for Serena to acquire the No.1 place. Sharapova needs to
get to at least the the third round if Williams gets knocked out of the
first. If the Russian gets to the semi-finals, she would would only need to
finish one round ahead of the American to secure victory as WTA No.1.


假如莎娃拿下馬德里冠軍，就能回到世界第一
即使小威打進決賽，但若讓莎娃奪冠，小威也不足以保住球后

如果小威首輪出局，莎娃至少需要打進第三輪
假如莎娃打進四強，她只要比小威多進一輪就能當上球后









The competition looks good in the third WTA Premier Mandatory of the season.
As well as Sharapova and Serena, there will be the likes of Victoria
Azarenka, Agnieszka Radwanska, Na Li, Angelique Kerbe and co. However, only
Maria and the younger of the Williams sisters have the chance to take the WTA
top spot from next Monday 13th May after the Mutua Madrid Open competition.


在賽季的第三項皇冠賽中有這樣的競爭看來很不錯
除了莎娃和小威，Aza、波蘭姐、娜姐、Kerber也會參賽

然而，只有莎娃跟小威有機會於馬德里賽事結束之後的下週一（5/13）
