Oklahoma City Thunder: Tibor Pleiss wait continues

The Tibor Pleiss wait will continue. The 7-foot-1 German, acquired by the
Thunder in the 2010 NBA draft, wrote on his blog a few weeks ago that he
would remain in the EuroLeague next season.

“I am in contact with Thunder GM Sam Presti and I often speak on phone with
Jonny Rogers, who lives in Barcelona and he is a scout for the Thunder in
Europe,” Pleiss wrote. “They look at me each game and they are very
satisfied for my performances. But I don’t want to be misunderstood: I think
to the NBA in the medium term and I don’t want to talk too much about it.

After this season I have three more years on my contract with Baskonia and I
will stay at least next season. I feel the confidence of coach Zan Tabak. I
know I can become a better player in Vitoria, which is crucial for me.”
Pleiss was picked 31st overall by the New Jersey Nets in the 2010 draft, then
was traded to the Hawks, who sold his rights to the Thunder.

Pleiss, who plays for the German national team, just finished his first
season with Caja Laboral in Spain. Pleiss averaged 5.0 points and 3.9 
rebounds per game last season. Playing for Brose Baskets the previous two
seasons, Pleiss averaged 6.7 points and 6.3 rebounds in 2010-11, then 6.5
points and 5.4 rebounds in 2011-12.

Pleiss has three years remaining on his contract. It’s possible that Pleiss
never crosses the Atlantic to join the Thunder.
