Comment: Blount's torrid shooting and improved rebounding were key reasons
why the Wolves won 10 of 13 games during their hot streak this month, and he
has reduced his turnovers this season.


G/F Ricky Davis
Key stats: 16 ppg, 4.4 apg, 35.0 3-pt. FG pct.
Grade: C
Comment: He has been scoring about 19 points a game in recent weeks, but his
refusal to re-enter the game last Friday meant he quit on his coach and the
team that night, a terrible sin that might have played a part in Dwane
Casey's firing.


G Randy Foye
Key stats: 9 ppg, 2.2 apg, 20.3 mpg, 42.6 FG pct.
Grade: B
Comment: After not playing much early in the season, was named the NBA's
rookie of the month for December. He still makes rookie mistakes and is
inconsistent from week to week.


F Kevin Garnett
Key stats: 22.3 ppg, 12.6 rpg, 4.2 apg
Grade: A-
Comment: He didn't make as many big plays down the stretch this season as
perhaps he should have, but he remains a strong force despite his increasing
age (31 in May).


F Eddie Griffin
Key stats: 13 games, 7.1 mpg, 1.4 ppg, 1.9 rpg
Grade: F
Comment: The team is expected to cut ties with Griffin soon in the wake of
his five-game suspension for violating the NBA's anti-drug program, the final
straw in his troubled three seasons with the team.


G Trenton Hassell
Key stats: 7.6 ppg, 53.7 FG pct., 3.3 rpg, 2.7 apg
Grade: B
Comment: Hassell has been more aggressive offensively during January, and he
needs to continue that for the Wolves to have a more balanced and consistent
attack.

Grade: C
Comment: Hasn't played enough to work through rough stretches but hasn't
always taken advantage of opportunities either.


G Mike James

Comment: Hasn't lived up to the four-year, $23.5 million contract the team
gave him this past summer, and playing time has seesawed in part because of
the commitment to developing rookie Randy Foye.

Grade: C
Comment: Unhappy with his role/playing time on the team, Jaric has asked to
be traded. His focus has been lacking at times in games.

Comment: Madsen never seemed to fit in with Dwane Casey's plans, in part
because of the emergence of rookie Craig Smith, so it will be interesting to

Comment: Hasn't played this season while recovering from right knee surgery.
He might return in the coming weeks and will have to earn playing time with
the logjam at the guard position.


F Justin Reed
Key stats: 22 games, 7.5 mpg, 2 ppg
Grade: C
Comment: Season highs in minutes (18) and rebounds (three) Dec. 23 at Indiana
show that he hasn't commanded more playing time ahead of rookie Craig Smith.


F Craig Smith
Key stats: 6.3 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 55 FG pct., 16.4 mpg
Grade: B
Comment: Second-round draft pick won a regular spot in the rotation, but his
production has slipped, though he still ranks among the league's rookie
leaders in points and rebounding.


G Bracey Wright
Key stats: 12 games, 9.5 mpg, 3.3 ppg, 39.5 FG pct.
Grade: C
Comment: Stuck on a team with too many guards, he finally got his chance to
play consistently this month when Jaric suffered a thumb injury. He showed
poise under pressure despite limited experience.
