MADRID, Feb 10 (Reuters) - Spain guard Ricky Rubio was voted European Young
Player of the Year for 2009 winning the award for the third time in a row,
governing body FIBA Europe said in a statement on Wednesday.
The 19-year-old was selected fifth in the overall pick by the Minnesota
Timberwolves in the NBA Draft last June but elected to stay in Spain moving
from DKV Joventut to FC Barcelona.
He helped Spain win their first European championship gold medal in Poland
last September. Rubio came in ahead of Serbia's Milan Macvan and Czech Jan
Vesely.
