這個問題一點也不笨
不過只要有牽扯到機制說明的話，由於是網路講解，會很容易說不清楚
這個部分專有名詞又爆多
我就大約就campbell 3th提到的部分，就我自己所理解的部分敘述一下
看不懂的地方千萬要再問

首先要先定義operon這個名詞
operon︰生產一個酵素所需要的整段DNA
        這一段序列會包含 promoter, operator, structural genes

promoter︰一段 DNA 序列，給 RNA polymerase 結合的地方
operator︰一段 DNA 序列，操控 structural genes 的開關，
          掌管RNA polymerase可否通過operator到達structural genes
structural genes：可以解碼出polypeptides的地方

所以說呢，會有如此一個簡圖
    regulatory      promoter  operator  structural
       gene                               genes
              ▊▊▊                                          
        ↓           ꈠ ↑               ↓    ↓    ↓
mRNA ────     RNA polymerase   ꈠ  ───────────
        ↓             ★                    ↓
    ●regulator                            enzyme

★RNA polymerase結合上會向右進行transcription

●regulator是為 inactive repressor 或是 active repressor

  一但 repressor成為 active repressor與 operator結合，把 RNA polymerase擋住
  就會抑制 RNA polymerase的 transcription

active repressor = 阻斷transcription
沒transcription = 沒translation = 沒polypeptides = 沒protein = 沒enzyme

  接下就要進入正題啦팠以 trp operon跟 lac operon來解釋機制

negative gene regulation其中repressor又分
   repressible enzyme 合成的東西會抑制生產 (trp operon)
   inducible enzyme   平常關著，靠inducer來激發生產 (lac operon)
positive gene regulation  CAP (catabolite activator protein)

trp operon
regulatory gene → inactive repressor
  不會阻擋RNA polymerase，於是 RNA polymerase很快樂的 transcription出 mRNA
  mRNA也不錯快樂的translation出一堆enzyme
  enzyme活化出的產物就是trp啦
structural genes → enzyme  ～(活化出) trp

trp + inactive repressor = active repressor
  active repressor與operator結合，阻擋RNA polymerase transcription
  如此可以稱trp為corepressor

簡單的說  只要體內trp濃度一高，trp operon就會關上，避免浪費

lac operon
regulatory gene → active repressor
  平常就阻擋了RNA polymerase
allolactose + active repressor = inactive repressor
  於是RNA polymerase就可以執行他的工作啦
  如此可以稱allolatose為inducer
structural genes → beta-galactosidase等等
beta-galactosidase使lactose → glucose + galactose
                               也會有一點allotose
  所以只要有lactose持續增加 = allotose增加 = operon打開

簡單的說  只要細胞內lactose增加 = allolatose增加 = lac operon才打開
          把lactose消耗掉 = allolatose慢慢變小 = lac operon回復關閉型態

請注意，平常lac的regulatory gene有點漏，所以一但細胞有lactose進來，
就會轉出alloctose，打開operon，但是基本上regulatory gene解碼出repressor
就屬於negative gene regulation
