You have been hired by the college zoology department for the summer. You are
excited because you will be working with a world-famous expert on animal
behavior. She has assigned you to study several videotapes of African animals
leaping into the air from the ground. Your task is to compare the power
output of several animals when they jump. You will be able to determine the
mass m of each animal from data on the animals collected in the field. By
viewing the videotape, you will be able to measure both the vertical distance d
over which the animal accelerates when it pushes off the ground and the
maximum height h it reaches.
Your task is to find an algebraic expression for the power in terms of these
other parameters.
