Besiktas are slightly fortunate to still be in this tie after Lazio missed a
number of second-half chances in the first-leg.
But the Turks are only 1-0 down, and the Biancocelesti will face a thorough
examination in fortress Istanbul as they bid to qualify for the semi-finals.
Mircea Lucescu's outfit had a couple of chances late on in Rome, but on the
whole were rather ineffective on the counterattack.
"We played well in the first half, but made a big mistake in the second by
giving away possession to let Lazio score," said the Romanian coach after the
game.
The onus will surely be on his side to take the match to the Romans, although
this could be a dangerous game against such swift counter attackers as Lazio.
One false move and the Turks may be left having to score three goals.
Roberto Mancini's side were highly convincing in their 4-1 beating or Empoli
on Sunday evening. They may have, at times, looked a little shaky at the back
and could have been accused of over playing when on the attack, but overall
it was another classy display from the Biancocelesti. It also signalled their
first Serie A win in seven games after six straight draws and a defeat.
Question marks have been raised by the club over whether they should actually
be playing this match, but they have made the trip and know what they have to
do.

Besiktas: Last Six Matches: WWLDLW
The victories have arrived at the expense of Slavia Prague, Goztepe and
Ankaragucu. Lucescu's side were otherwise knocked out of the Turkish cup,
4-3, by Genclerbirligi, held by Trabzonspor in the league, and of course
beaten 1-0 by Lazio in the first-leg of this tie.
Lazio: Last six Matches: DDWDWW
In Serie A, Mancio's side have picked up draws with Atalanta, Perugia and
Roma, as well as that 4-1 thrashing of Empoli at the weekend. They qualified
for this round with a 2-1 win in Poland against Wisla Krakow.
LATEST TEAM NEWS
Besiktas: Uzulmez is back after three weeks on the sidelines, while Nouma has
recovered from the flu. Metin and Bektas are out injured though.
Lazio: Inzaghi misses out with the flu, meaning Lopez and Chiesa will play in
attack. Couto will likely partner Mihajlovic at the back

Ilhan Mansiz (Besiktas): the long-haired heartthrob made his name on the big
stage during the World Cup finals in Japan and South Korea. He has missed
some of the season through injury, but is back to fitness now.
Dejan Stankovic (Lazio): the outrageously talented Yugoslav has had a
sensational season, exceeding all expectations.
