History
The song was written by Bono as an apology to his wife Ali Hewson for
forgetting her birthday during The Joshua Tree sessions (However, since the
Joshua Tree sessions ran from July to November 1986, and Ali Hewson's
birthday is March 23rd, this cannot be the reason Bono forgot.) At
Alison's request, proceeds from the single went to her favorite charity,
Chernobyl Children's Project International.
因為Bono在Joshua Tree巡迴演唱期間,忘記了老婆Ali Hewson的生日,
所以才寫了這首歌贖罪XD.(這是在找理由吧....)
在Ali的要求下,這首單曲後來獻給了她最愛的Chernobyl(車諾比爾) Children's
Project International.
To promote the release of the single in 1998, Island Records distributed
"Sweetest Thing" chocolate bars, wrapped to look like the single, throughout
Europe. They have become a very valuable collectors item among U2 fans during
the 2000s.
1998年,在此單曲的宣傳期間,Island Records還發售了"Sweetest Thing"
的巧克力棒,其包裝甚至跟單曲本身一模一樣,暢銷全歐洲.對U2迷來說,
此巧克力已經變成了2000年左右最珍貴的收集品
The song has only been played live about 30 times during the Elevation Tour
in 2001, where Bono played The Edge's piano parts. The song is also featured
in the short film, Sightings of Bono.
在2001年期間的Elevation Tour,在僅僅大約30次的現場演奏中,
Bono彈奏了原本應該屬於The Edge的鋼琴部分.這首歌也同樣被收錄到
"Sightings of Bono"這部短片中.
