在波特蘭警方介入調查去年10月幾位爵士球員與一位外國舞孃的衝突事件之後，
沒有人因為這件事情被當作犯罪起訴。

Jerry Sloan在執教19年來首次針對球隊客場之旅頒佈了無限期的宵禁。Sloan在星期一
（2007/1/22） 說：當跟著球隊一起客場征戰的時候，每一位隊員的夜晚都必須在飯店房
間渡過，不然就得接受罰款或是禁賽的處分。

Sloan 說：「我以前從沒這樣子做過，整季的宵禁是頭一回。但是我認為我們應該要有一
些規範出來。」「爵士隊都是年輕的球員。當波特蘭事件發生後，我們必須想出個辦法讓
況狀得以被控制。」

根據今年一月奧勒岡州摩特諾瑪縣律師的一份報告指出，警方在去年10月23日的事件中
並沒有找到任何犯罪的證據。但是這份報告指出，爵士接受調查的四位球員在季前熱身的
比賽之後到夜店消費數個小時，直到凌晨2：30才回到他們下塌的飯店。

排除了犯罪的爭議之後，這件事也引起了Sloan 的注意。在緊接著的下一週他就公布了一
個宵禁政策。

Sloan 說他並不是要每天實施晚點名來確定球員是否有遵守這個宵禁政策，而且他也無法
保證是否有球員偷偷違反禁令。不過一旦讓他發現有球員違反規定，他一定會做一個處分
。

Sloan 說：「我不想介入每個人的生活，讓他們每次回頭都看到我在監督他們的一舉一動
。」「我只是誠心的希望，他們能夠瞭解『籃球』是他們能夠立足在這裡的唯一理由。不
是離開球場之後就可以隨心所欲了。」

Nobody was charged with any crimes after a Portland police investigation into
some Jazz players' late-night encounter with an exotic dancer last October,

    For the first time in his 19 years running the Jazz, Jerry Sloan has
instituted a blanket curfew during the team's road trips, the coach said
Monday. When traveling with the team, every player is required to be in his
hotel room by midnight, Sloan said, or face punishment, presumably fines or
suspension.
    "I've never done that before, not for the whole season, but I just felt
we needed to have some rules," the coach said. "This team has a lot of young
guys. After what happened in Portland, we just thought, 'Let's try to keep
things under control.' "

    A report by the Multnomah County district attorney earlier this month
said police found no evidence of a crime in the Oct. 23 incident. But the
report said the four Jazz players under investigation had returned to their
hotel at 2:30 a.m. on the morning of a preseason game, after spending several
hours at a nightclub.
    Apart from the issue of criminal wrongdoing, that got Sloan's attention,
too. The following week, he said, he established a curfew.

    Sloan said he has not conducted bedchecks to assure the curfew is being
followed, and he would not say if there have been any violations since. But
if he discovered a player in violation, he would assess a punishment.

    "I don't want to be in every guy's personal life, [so] every time they
turn around they see me trying to police everything they do," Sloan said.
"Hopefully, they understand basketball is what we're here for. It's not
totally entertainment off the floor."
