Davis two technicals away from suspension By Geoff Lepper MediaNews Article Launched: 05/13/2007 02:11:05 AM PDT After earning a technical foul for spontaneously lifting his jersey in celebration of his emphatic dunk over Utah's Andrei Kirilenko in Game 3 of the Western Conference semifinals Friday night, Warriors guard Baron Davis will have to be on his guard. Davis has five technicals in nine playoff games. If he picks up two more, he will earn an immediate one-game suspension. That would be an unqualified disaster for the Warriors given how dominant Davis has been during the past month. Players are suspended for a game after their seventh playoff technical, and for another game after every two technicals after that. Davis and teammate Stephen Jackson, who has three technicals, are the only two players still active in the playoffs to have more than one such foul. "I'm very aware of the rule, as of today," Davis said. "I'm good. We'll be all right." Even Detroit Pistons forward Rasheed Wallace, the regular-season leader with 19 technicals and two one-game suspensions, has made it through the playoffs with only one technical. "Baron's not really someone who gets (a lot) of technicals, and some of them are uncalled for," Warriors forward Matt Barnes said. "I think he knows what's on the line and understands that we can't lose him, so I don't think that'll be a problem." Game 3 got out of hand for Utah in the second quarter, when the Warriors scored a franchise-playoff-record 40 points, and members of the Jazz were blaming themselves for falling into the Warriors' trap of shooting first, fast and often. "We never made them play any defense, quite frankly. We got in such a hurry to shoot the ball. Those quick shots turn into fast breaks," Utah Coach Jerry Sloan said. "Of course, they can beat you down the court after made baskets, but the important thing is to try to have them guard you a little bit." Kirilenko was more specific about his team needing to attack the paint. "If I could change it right now, I would try to force (the Warriors) to play more (Carlos) Boozer and Memo (Mehmet Okur) inside, have them create the call or score from the inside," Kirilenko said. Jazz guard Dee Brown (sprained neck) participated in shooting drills at practice Saturday and said he'd like to suit up for Game 4 tonight, but will still be a game-time decision. http://www.mercurynews.com/sports/ci_5887024 -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 61.140.108.143
