Could use help at: Point Guard, Shooting Guard, Depth
Bottom line: The Jazz surprised many people with a strong playoff run, making
it all the way to the conference final before losing to the San Antonio Spurs.
Deron Williams has emerged as one of the better point guards in the NBA.
Carlos Boozer and Mehmet Okur provide great depth up front, and the Jazz have
a lot of serviceable players at the wing. If Andrei Kirilenko can return to
old form, Utah would have as much balance as any roster in the NBA.
Draft outlook: The Jazz could stand to upgrade their shooting guard position
and backup point guard spots in the draft. However, they will likely settle
for taking the best player available at 25.
Jared Dudley is the type of role
player who seems like a good fit for the Jazz.
Petteri Koponen could
eventually become their third guard off the bench. With their second round
pick, the Jazz can afford to take a chance on a project that could pay off
big in the long run. Players like
Wilson Chandler, Jermareo Davidson and
Darryl Watkins could all be worth an investment.
