Fisher does the right thing.

"Life for me out weighs the game of basketball". What a great quote, and that
sums up Derek Fisher in one sentence. Since his arrival to Utah a year ago,
Fisher has been a quality basketball, a great team leader and a model citizen
in the community. Now he is leaving for all the right reasons. Fisher's baby
daughter Tatum has been battling a form of cancer in her eye, and Derek wants
her to get the best treatment possible. Treatment that is available in about
6 or 7 cities in America, and he plans to be in that city full time. Fisher
pointed out that it would not be fair for his family to deal with this, while
he lived in Utah playing basketball.
As for the Jazz, Fisher has the right Owner. Larry Miller is a family man to
the core. He has instilled that in the entire jazz organization. The first to
have a "Family Room" at the arena stocked with toys so the kids can play.
When Fisher explained his situation, Miller didn't bat an eye. The NBA calls
it a "Divorce". If so, it could not be more amicable. Fisher did exactly what
the jazz needed him to do…. Mentor Deron Williams, and provide some Champion
style leadership. Mission accomplished. Williams is already one of the hottest
Point Guards in the league, and the Jazz made it to the NBA Final Four. From
a basketball perspective, and believe me that is in the back ground right now,
the Jazz will have the benefit of millions of dollars to go and sign a quality
shooter in Fishers place.
Now, Fisher needs to take care of his family. And we all wish them the best!
