除了固定的隊伍排名之外,也特別選出值得進入明星賽的球員

You heard it here first: The 2010 NBA All-Star Game will be the greatest
ever

這可能是你第一次聽說︰今年的明星賽將會是史上最棒的一次

First off, the site is a stroke of genius. Thank goodness the local NFL team
has been eliminated from the playoffs so every firework in the Dallas area
can be saved for the Valentine's Day spectacular at Cowboys Stadium.

理由1︰球賽地點選得很好
感謝老天爺讓NFL牛仔隊在季後賽提前出局，所以達拉斯居民準備的煙火
可以等到情人節那天在牛仔球場再施放

Second, with the East making a bit of a resurgence in recent years, the top
two teams at the annual showcase won't be the West's starting five and the
West's second five.

理由2︰東區實力在近年的提升
這樣在年度大秀最佳的兩支球隊就不會是西區的先發隊與西區的替補隊

And most important, with the most fascinating free-agent class in the history
of sports inching closer to graduation, what better way to move yourself onto
the top shelf than putting on a show every NBA general manager will be
watching?

The only thing that could mess things up is poor rostering. The fans have had
their say, with starting lineups to be announced Thursday, and then coaches
will select the reserves.

Here's what I'd like to see:

East starters:
Derrick Rose, Dwyane Wade, LeBron James, Chris Bosh, Dwight Howard.

Toughest call: Rose over Rajon Rondo.
You could argue Rondo is a better fit for a collection of All-Stars because
he's the better ball distributor. But I say that's short-changing Rose,
who flat-out can do it all.

最困難選擇︰選玫瑰不選軟豆
其他球迷可能會認為軟豆傳球比較好而選他，但作者認為玫瑰能做得一樣好

East reserves:
Rondo, Joe Johnson, Paul Pierce, Gerald Wallace, Danny Granger, Kevin Garnett,
David Lee.

Toughest call: Lee over Antawn Jamison.
Two guys with good numbers on bad teams. The difference: Lee might lead the
Knicks into the playoffs, whereas every Wizards game is meaningless.

最困難選擇︰選李大衛不選巫師傑哥
這兩個人都是在實力欠佳的球隊打出好數據，但小李可以幫助尼克打入季後賽，
而巫師的球賽卻是毫無意義

West starters:
Steve Nash, Kobe Bryant, Carmelo Anthony, Dirk Nowitzki, Tim Duncan.

Toughest call: Nowitzki over Amare Stoudemire.
The game's in Dallas and Nowitzki recently went over 20,000 points for his
career. OK, maybe it wasn't so hard.

最困難選擇︰選德佬不選阿罵
畢竟今年主場在達拉斯，而德佬最近剛達到生涯2萬分的里程碑
不過這也不難選

West reserves:
Chris Paul, Deron Williams, Brandon Roy, Kevin Durant, Pau Gasol,
Carlos Boozer, Stoudemire.

Toughest call: Boozer over Chauncey Billups.
Yeah, the league's sixth-leading scorer (Monta Ellis) is being snubbed,
but when healthy, Billups is more than just an All-Star. He's an MVP
candidate. In the East, he's the starter.

最困難選擇︰選娘布不選槍蜥
聯盟得分第六名的艾莉絲的確被忽略了，但槍蜥只要健康，他除了是全明星，
還是MVP候選人，在東區明星隊更可以成為先發後衛

Also worth considering: Shaquille O'Neal.
He's not an All-Star anymore, but for two six-minute stints with nobody
laying a hand on him, he could still put on a show.

大歐的確不再有明星身手，但是他在禁區的防守還是可以製造娛樂效果

2 Lakers
Also worth considering: No one.
I'll be a bit surprised if the coaches go for Gasol, who's missed almost
half the season. But here's a reason to pick him: It basically shuts out
Chris Kaman.

2.湖人︰無
如果嘎獸入選，這位作者會感到有點意外，因為他缺席了將近半個球季
不過有一個理由可以說得通︰畢竟他要打爆KKMan還是綽綽有餘

3 Hawks
Also worth considering: Josh Smith.
Shot-blocking is back in vogue in the NBA and few do it better than this
high-flyer. I send him to Dallas if Garnett can't go.

Also worth considering: Jason Kidd.

All-Star Game in Oakland. Nobody complements the stars better.

5 Nuggets
Also worth considering: Billups.
When the competition for spots is as stiff as it is in the Western backcourt,
41.1 percent shooting sticks out.

6 Celtics
Also worth considering: No one.
You want a fourth Celtic in the game? Some might say they don't deserve
three, but face it: Boston has the best overall talent in the NBA.

Also worth considering: Tony Parker.

considered, especially with the Spurs no longer a truly elite team.

at the All-Star Game. Alas, nothing's perfect.

12 Trail Blazers
Also worth considering: No one.
But maybe Nate McMillan should be coaching the West squad, considering the
way he's patched this injury-ravaged club together.

13 Rockets
Worth considering: Aaron Brooks.
How could the NBA improve its All-Star package this year? Add a 6-Foot-And-
Under Showcase so the remarkable Mr. Brooks could perform.

Here's my first prediction for this summer: The big winner will be the guy

Also worth considering: Stephen Jackson.
Talk about consistency: Check out his numbers as a Bobcat and as a Warrior.
They're shockingly similar.

16 Grizzlies
Worth considering: Zach Randolph.
Yeah, he's outscoring Duncan, Gasol and Boozer. Sorry, I just can't do it.

17 Heat
Also worth considering: No one.
And that's exactly why Wade isn't likely to represent the Heat at any future
All-Star Games.

Emeka Okafor has added stability to the club while taking rebounds away
from former All-Star David West. That's good for the Hornets, bad for West.

19 Bulls
Also worth considering: Joakim Noah.
The league's second-leading rebounder really isn't all that close to making
the 12-man squad, but that changes if Garnett bows out.

20 Bucks
Worth considering: No one.
Brandon Jennings has gone from the early favorite to win Rookie of the Year
to the guy most likely to disappoint in the Rookie Challenge.

21 Knicks
Also worth considering: No one.
I'll say this about Danilo Gallinari's chances if he gets into the 3-point
shootout: He's a lock to get his 25 shots off before the horn sounds.

22 Clippers
Worth considering: Kaman.
Only seven players are averaging 20 points while shooting 50 percent. I'm
leaving three (Kaman, Randolph, Corey Maggette) off the Western squad.

Others worth considering: No one.
All-Star Games are for the top players, not just guys who have been healthy

Oh how the mighty have fallen. Even the ex-Pistons standouts can't make it

Worth considering: Jamison.
He'll probably be the highest scorer in his conference not to make the team.

Worth considering: No one.
No doubt, the NBA computers have been working overtime to make sure Allen
Iverson stays home for the midseason holidays.

27 Kings
Worth considering: Tyreke Evans.
Maybe next year. Then again, if Nash, Bryant, Paul, Williams, Roy and Billups

Worth considering: Ellis.

29 Timberwolves
Worth considering: No one.
Here's the good news: If Al Jefferson and Kevin Love keep developing,

30 Nets
Worth considering: No one.
But with upward of $30 million in projected cap space for next season, you
can bet the Nets will be watching the game carefully. And drooling.
