SALT LAKE CITY – Sometimes, things work out the way nature intended.
Deron Williams thought he'd reached this level a time or two before, like
when he helped the Utah Jazz reach the Western Conference finals in 2007.
"There definitely was a little frustration, because I felt like I had been an
All-Star a couple years," the point guard from The Colony said.
It finally happened this season when he was voted in as a Western Conference
reserve for the game that will be in his backyard Feb. 14.
It's poetic. He'll join the All-Star fraternity on a court built on the home
turf of Cowboys Stadium. Williams went to the Cowboys' home opener in
September and, like everybody else, is eager to see what NBA ball will look
like in the cavernous dome.
The Mavericks know all too well about why Williams is finally an All-Star in
his fifth season. After a slow start, he was a beast against them Monday.
Williams finished with 18 points and 15 assists and directed an efficient
offense that shot 49.4 percent from the field.
