The Nets haven't been shy to show how much they want Deron Williams to stick
around in their move to Brooklyn. They've even gone as far as making Williams
an assistant general manager of sorts, giving him a say in personnel
decisions.

But the Nets couldn't attract Dwight Howard, who decided to stay with the
Orlando Magic at least through the end of next season, and could only trad
for swingman Gerald Wallace before the deadline.

It was an upgrade, but it may not be enough.

Yesterday, Williams told Yahoo! Sports that if Howard had joined the Nets, he
would've already decided to stay.

"It’s a decision he made for himself,” Williams said of Howard. “I really
have no comment on it. He did what was best for him. I respect that. I’m
still friends with him.

“Oh yeah, it definitely would have changed things. I’ve already made it
known that if he would have come I probably would have stayed.”

Williams, 28, made it clear that his goal is a championship.

“I want to win. At the end of the day, I’m not getting any younger,”
 Williams said. “I’ll be 28 when I sign this next deal. I have to look for
the best situation for me.”

Doing that has led to fans voicing their opinions at him online using social
media.

“People get traded all the time,” Williams told Yahoo! Sports. “They don’
t get backlash as an organization. If [players] leave, we are not loyal, we
are ungrateful. People say stuff to me on Twitter. They already think I’m
gone. They are out there bashing me, saying to me I’m a traitor.

“I didn’t ask to be here. I got traded. I didn’t come here being a free
agent. This is the first time that I’m a free agent in my career.”

大意:

現年28歲的蝶龍也告訴記者，他需要為自己的未來做出最好的打算：
“我想贏。歸根結底，我不再年輕了。當我簽下下一個合約時，我將是28歲了。我得為我
自己做好最佳的選擇。”

蝶龍還回應了人們對他今夏可能“背棄”籃網的質疑：

“當初不是我要求來這裡(籃網)的，我是被交易來的。
我並非作為自由球員來到這裡。

這（今年夏天）將是我職業生涯第一次成為一名自由球員。”
