The San Antonio Spurs have hired former New York Knicks president and general
manager Scott Layden as an assistant GM, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.
根據Yahoo!體育網站的報導，馬刺確定聘用前尼克總經理Scott Layden擔任助理GM
的職務。
Layden had been an assistant coach with the Jazz, and replaces Dennis
Lindsey, who left the Spurs to become Utah’s GM last month.
Layden上一份工作，是在爵士擔任助教。巧合的是，馬刺這個職缺產生的緣由，正是
原任者Dennis Lindsey在上個月跳槽到爵士擔任GM。
Front-office jobs with the Spurs are considered golden in the NBA, largely
because of the chance to work under GM RC Buford and president-coach Gregg
Popovich. In recent years, Spurs assistant GMs – including Lindsey, Danny
Ferry, Sam Presti and Dell Demps – have taken a fast-track to becoming top
executives elsewhere.
在RC Buford與Gregg Popovich的主導下，馬刺的管理組被公認為是聯盟最頂尖的，
甚至於在此擔任過助理的人，近幾年也陸續被其他球隊聘用－如爵士隊Lindsey、

Layden had a well-regarded run as the Jazz GM, before embarking on a
tumultuous 4½-year stay in New York in 1999. As Jazz GM from 1992-99, Layden
’s draft picks and deals played a significant part in the organization’s
two trips to the NBA Finals and three straight 60-victory seasons.
儘管在尼克4.5年的經歷讓Layden飽受批評，但他在爵士擔任GM的七年卻可說是相當
成功，因為他的選秀與交易，可說是讓爵士連三年60勝，並二度打進總冠軍賽的
一大關鍵。
One of Layden’s primary responsibilities will be administering the Spurs’
scouting department.
Layden來到馬刺後，主要的工作將是球員的觀察與評估。
Houston Rockets VP of Player Personnel Gersson Rosas had also been a serious
candidate for the Spurs job, league sources said.
火箭隊球員分析部門副總Gersson Rosas，也曾是馬刺考慮的人選。
