The Utah Jazz, who have lost seven of their last nine games, got more bad
news Wednesday night prior to facing Minnesota at EnergySolutions Arena.
最近九場只贏了兩場的爵士雪上加霜。
The team announced that starting point guard Mo Williams, who averages 12.9
points and 6.7 assists, will undergo surgery on his injured right thumb.
老莫受傷的右拇指得動刀。
Williams’ thumb will be placed in a splint for six weeks. He will be limited
to conditioning and restricted weight lifting before being re-evaluated in
February.
預計缺席至少六週，二月進行再評估。
Williams was injured Dec. 22 at Miami and has not played since. His surgery
is scheduled for Friday.
老莫是在去年底對熱火的比賽中被皇氣震傷。
For now, the Jazz will play with two veteran point guards on the roster - —
Jamaal Tinsley and Earl Watson.
現在能頂替他上場的只剩老汀與屈臣氏兩位老將。
"It’s huge for us, especially now," said coach Tyrone Corbin. "... This time
of year, it’s a big hit for us. But you know what? That’s what this league
is all about. Guys will get [new] opportunities.
"We all have to understand how we have to pick in order to give us a chance
to win. One of our leaders is down, and we all have to rally around him and
play better to make him feel better about himself."
泰皇表示無可奈何。
The Jazz have lost three straight games and are 15-17 this season. They are
11th in the overall Western Conference standings and play five of their next
six on the road.
爵士目前面對三連敗、勝率未達五成、在西區排名第十一的窘境，
更慘的是接下來六場比賽其中五場是客場。
Asked if the circumstances make winning the Minnesota game crucial for the
Jazz, Corbin shrugged.
"They are all big for us now," he said. "... We’re under .500, and we have a
man down with Mo being out for a while. So we have to [learn] how we have to
play without him in the lineup and, collectively, we have to all pick it up
to give us a chance to win."
