David Villa, through Valencia's official website, has written an open letter
to the fans of Valencia discussing his move to Barcelona.

"I wanted to share with all of you, that this is without a doubt one of the
most difficult and emotional moments of my career. It is time for me to say
goodbye, after five wonderful years at the club, I will take my memories, and
leave behind many friends, but I will leave knowing that this is best for the
club. In Valencia I have grown as a player and as a person. Valencia CF has
felt like my home from day one and it will continue to fell that way. I want
everyone to know that I have been proud to wear the shirt of Valencia, which
has given me so much and will always have a place in my heart. It has also
been a privilege to wear the captain's armband, both on and off the pitch,
and at all times I have always put every effort into representing Valencia as
it deserves to be represented."

"I would like, first of all, to send a big hug to all the supporters who have
always given me so much love, from the day of my presentation until my last
match at Mestalla. Also, to all of the people who have helped me to improve:
the coaches, the management, especially Manuel Llorente, and the employees at
the club that I have worked side by side with. I want to thank everyone, and
emphasize that after five years, I am Valencian, as are my two daughters. I
did everything I could for Valencia CF, which will always be in my heart, I
am a shareholder and I wish them all the luck in the world. I leave with the
satisfaction of knowing that the club is back where it deserves to be every
year, fighting with the best in Europe in the Champions League. Players
leave, but they leave great enthusiasm behind, and with Valencia being as
great a club as it is, it will always have a strong and competitive team that
will always be safe, and will give lots of joy to the people who watch it."
