Valencia has been negotiating for Jackson Martinez since January

Valencia has reportedly been negotiating with Porto over the transfer of
Colombian striker, Jackson Martinez since the last transfer window in
January and since the imminent arrival of new owner Peter Lim, talks have
accelerated between the two sides.
According to Spanish sports daily, AS, Lim is keen to sign Martinez as the
first of many to come to Mestalla this summer and is using his friendship
with Portuguese super-agent, Jorge Mendes to bring the 27-year-old to
Spain.
Valencia president, Amadeo Salvo made an initial approach to Mendes last
January after the match between Valencia and Celta Vigo and while he
secured the permanent services of Argentinean centre-back, Nicolas
Otamendi on the final day of the transfer window, they also laid the
groundwork for the transfer of Martinez.
Porto refused to negotiate with Valencia in January due to the fact that
they were still in the Champions League and luckily for Valencia they did,
as the sale of Valencia to Lim did not occur as planned, which would've
left Valencia unable to pay the transfer fee.
However, Lim is fully in the picture and the stage is set for Martinez to
be wearing blanquinegre by the start of the 2014-15 season.
