The Chernobyl disaster arose from an accident that occurred on April 26, 1986
at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in Pripyat, Ukraine. It is regarded as
the worst accident in the history of nuclear power. Because there was no
containment building, a plume of radioactive fallout drifted over parts of
the western Soviet Union, Eastern and Western Europe, Scandinavia, the
British Isles, and eastern North America. Large areas of Ukraine, Belarus,
and Russia were badly contaminated, resulting in the evacuation and
resettlement of over 336,000 people. About 60% of the radioactive fallout
landed in Belarus according to official post-Sovietic data [1]. According to
35mthe 2006 TORCH report, half of the radioactive fallout landed outside those
35mthree Soviet countries [2] [3]. The disaster released over four hundred times
more radiation than the atomic bomb of Hiroshima.


車諾比災害起因於1986年4月26日發生在烏克蘭‧普里比亞特地區(Pripyat, Ukraine)
的一起意外。

車諾比事件被視為歷史上最嚴重的核能發電廠意外事件。由於車諾比發電廠沒有保護掩體
，導致受到核輻射塵污染的雲層漂往前蘇聯西部的部分地區、西歐、東歐、斯堪的那維亞
半島、不列顛群島和美東地區。

此外，在烏克蘭(Ukraine)、白俄羅斯(Belarus)及俄羅斯(Russia)境內遭受到嚴重的汙染
的地區，超過336,000名的居民被迫撤離。依據前蘇聯的官方報告，約60%受到輻射塵污染
的地區皆位於白俄羅斯境內(Belarus)。依據2006年的TORCH報告指出[1]，半數受到輻射
塵污染的地區都在前蘇聯的那三個國家[2]之外。這次災難所釋放出的輻射線量是投在廣
島的原子彈的400倍以上。
