Bartoli.
No.3 seed Silvia Farina Elia recovered from a 4-2 third set deficit to beat
Anabel Medina Garrigues while Ai Sugiyama also needed three sets to advance,
defeating compatriot Akiko Morigami, 16 63 62.
Playing her first match in more than three months, American Chanda Rubin was
beaten by Russian qualifier Alina Jidkova Wednesday at the Wien Energie Grand
Prix in Vienna. Rubin, on the sidelines with a left knee injury since early
February, fell 76(2) 67(3) 64.
