Serena Williams expected to miss French Open
Seven-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams, who hasn't played since a
third-round loss in the Australian Open in January, is going to be out longer.
Williams, struggling with knee and ankle injuries, probably will miss the
French Open (May 28-June 11) and is questionable for Wimbledon (June 26-July
9), Sony Ericsson WTA Tour CEO Larry Scott said.
"There was no timetable she shared with me at the moment" on a comeback,
Scott said, "but I don't expect it to be within the next couple of months."
The chronic injury to her left knee flared up last season, and she also
suffered from ankle, rib and shoulder problems.
