Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo has declared that he is aiming to be
the best player at the World Cup finals in South Africa.
The Real Madrid star has not scored for his country in well over a year
but insisted that statistic does not bother him. The 25-year-old has
stated that he expects the goals to come flowing, like ketchup, in the
tournament.
"I've done many things in my life and I don't have to prove anything
to anyone. But I want to have a great World Cup, I want to demonstrate
in this World championship that I can be the best," he told a press
conference.
"I will not say that I will be the top scorer or anything like that,
I'm going to give everything to try to be the best. My intention is to
do my best. I'm not concerned about going a long time without scoring.
I think the goals will appear in the World Cup. Goals are like ketchup,
when they come, they come all at once."
Portugal open their World Cup account against Ivory Coast on Tuesday
in Port Elizabeth.
