Reigning European champions Spain lock horns with Germany in the semi-finals

of the 2010 World Cup in what will be a replay of the final at Euro 2008.

The Furia Roja recorded a 1-0 win against the Nationalelf in 2008 and

 they will be looking to record another win on Wednesday to make it to

 the final of the World Cup for the first time in their history.


Liverpool striker Fernando Torres became Spain's hero when he netted

the only goal of the match in 2008, but the highly rated attacker has

failed to impress at this summer's tournament so far and has yet to

 score his first goal.


According to a report in Marca, national team coach Vicente del Bosque

 is slowly running out of patience with the former Atletico Madrid

 star and Torres could very well be relegated to the bench as Spain

 take on Germany on Wednesday.


The report claims that Del Bosque is ready to axe Torres from his

line-up in favour of tricky winger David Silva. The new Manchester

 City signing was part of the starting XI in Spain's 1-0 group stage

loss against Switzerland, but then lost his spot in Del Bosque's line-up.


Another candidate to replace Torres is Arsenal playmaker Cesc Fabregas.

 The highly rated midfielder impressed after coming off the bench

 in the game against Paraguay
