可能大家早就知道了,還是po給 在美國的同學看看 Addicted to Water More chemicals than just H2O Recently, studies have been popping up in the U.S. and Europe with some very disturbing findings: discarded drugs are being found in the water supply. And we're not talking about small amounts either. A nationwide U.S geological survey sampling water in 30 states found that the total weight of drugs and personal-care products that find their way into the environment each year is equal to that of pesticides that end up in the environment annually. That's approximately 888 million pounds of drugs each year, or the equivalent of three pounds per person per year for every man, woman and child in the U.S. An awful lot of drugs. As much as 75% of the water tested contained two or more drugs, and 13% of the water tested contained traces of more than 20 different drugs! The drugs most commonly found in water include painkillers, tranquilizers, anti-depressants, and birth-control pills, to name a few. Most of these drugs find their way into the water system by being flushed down the toilet. Not only is this a convenient disposal method, but some states have actually passed laws that force nursing homes to flush perfectly good drugs down the toilet every week. If prescription medicine is distributed to nursing homes and isn't used due to the death of a patient or a change in prescription, the drugs can't be sent back to the pharmacy and must be disposed of by flushing. -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 125.224.165.125
