Title: Visiting of Don Marinellik, the Executive Producer, and Rebecca Lombardi, the Director of Admissions and Marketing for Carnegie Mellon’s Entertainment Technology Center (ETC-Global) Content: The ETC-Global was created 8 years ago, and we offer a 2 year masters degree called the MET or Master of Entertainment Technology. Our curriculum is project based and focuses on teamwork. Our students work on projects in any area of interactive media. For example, we work in the area of video games, cell phone technology, interactive museum exhibits, theme park attractions, and the list continues. We are part of the School of Computer Science AND the College of Fine Arts. We have a lot of international students in our program and have noticed a large number of applicants from Taiwan. For example, we just started a new class this week and 56% of the class is international. Of the 28 international students, 4 are from Taiwan. Thus, we hope to conduct an information session for interested students at National Taiwan University. There is a lot of information available on our website at http://www.etc.cmu.edu. Also, here is the information about Rebecca Lombardi: Rebecca Lombardi, Director of Admission & Marketing,, ETC – Global Entertainment Technology Center, Carnegie Mellon University. Carnegie Mellon’s Entertainment Technology Center (ETC-Global) Visits National Taiwan University Please join Executive Producer, Don Marinelli, and Director of Admission, Rebecca Lombardi for a discussion about Carnegie Mellon’s Entertainment Technology Center (ETC-Global) The “high concept” behind both the Entertainment Technology Center and the Masters in Entertainment Technology degree is that we are based on the principle of having technologists and non-technologists work together on projects that produce artifacts that are intended to entertain, inform, inspire, or otherwise affect an audience/guest/player/participant. The masters degree is focused on extensive semester-long project courses. This focus allows us to tackle the much larger challenge of effectively bringing together students and researchers from different disciplines. We do not intend to take artists and turn them into engineers, or vice-versa. While some students will be able to achieve mastery in both areas, it is not our intention to have our students master “the other side.” Instead, we intend for a typical student in this program to enter with mastery/training in a specific area and spend his or her two years at Carnegie Mellon learning the vocabulary, values, and working patterns of the other culture. -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 140.112.90.136 -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 140.112.90.136
