Coach Jarvis 在預賽對戰中華隊那場比賽的中場時間, 有對現場觀眾提到這件事情.

: 因為虔誠的信仰，使得Mike Jarvis帶領這支富有基督教色彩
: 的球隊(Athletes In Action)來台比賽，台灣球迷也方能一睹這位NCAA一級教練的風采。
: 看起來阿泰真的是很難帶,連基督也感化不了

Artest 好歹還算規規矩矩地唸完書, 又正正當當地投入職業賽場;
他的幾個寶貝學弟, 在 2003 年捅的大簍子, 才真的是把 Coach Jarvis 的招牌給砸了.

據報導, 那年球季 St. John's 男籃校隊三名主力球員, 因為涉及性醜聞遭到開除,
總教練當然飯碗不保, 校隊的戰績也一蹶不振直到現在.

我本來還在想, Coach Jarvis 會不會就是那位倒楣的教練, 一查發現果然就是.  ^^b

我有找到另外一篇關於 Coach Jarvis 離職的評論, 大意是講說, 這位教練很重視
門面, 格調, 紀律... 這些東西, 但那卻跟 St. John's 校隊的選手們格格不入.
言下之意, 大概是 St. John's 招收的那些紐約當地學生比較習慣街頭的那一套吧;
結論是建議 St. John's 找一些在地的教練來帶, 比如校友 Mark Jackson 這些人,
才可以比較跟學生們打成一片; 那篇用了很多俚俗語法, 我只能看懂大意, 就不引用了.

     Mike Jarvis is a sports commentator and former NCAA basketball coach at
Boston University, George Washington University, and St. John's University.
He also works as a commentator for college basketball games on ESPN.  His ca-
reer college coaching record in over 18 seasons is 364-201 [...] and is one
of 4 Division I coaches to have won 100 games at three different colleges.

　　麥克˙賈維斯現為體育評論員，他曾任波士頓大學、喬治˙華盛頓大學，以及聖
若望大學的籃球教練。他亦為 ESPN 頻道講評大學籃球賽。其十八年執教生涯戰績為

     Jarvis was born in Massachusetts and played high school basketball at
Cambridge Rindge and Latin High School.  He also coached at Cambridge Rindge
and Latin, where his players included Patrick Ewing, Rumeal Robinson and cur-
rent George Washington head coach Karl Hobbs.  He played basketball and base-
ball at Northeastern University, graduating in 1968.

　　賈維斯出身麻薩諸塞州，亦曾執教於他本身的高中校隊，帶過包括尤英在內的高中

     Jarvis became head coach at Boston University in 1985, becoming the Ter-
riers' all-time winningest coach in 5 seasons with a 101-50 record (he was
later overtaken by Dennis Wolff).  Boston University reached the NCAA Tourna-
ment in 1988 and 1990 under Jarvis.

Tournament, the Colonials' best tournament performance.  He coached the United
States under-22 men's team in 1993.  Jarvis also led the Colonials to two vic-
tories over #1 ranked UMass, compiling a 143-100 record at George Washington.

     After the 1998 season, Jarvis accepted the head coaching job at St. John's
University after Fran Fraschilla was fired, leading the Redmen (now the Red
Storm) to the Elite 8 in the 1999 NCAA Tournament and the 2000 Big East tourna-
ment championship.  Following scandals, including having players arrested, and
a lack of success, Jarvis was fired during the 2003 season, the first ever Big
East coach to be fired during the season.  His final record at St. John's was
110-61.

　　1998 年球季之後賈維斯接掌聖若望大學校隊總教練一職，1999 年打進全國八強，
2000 年贏得大東區聯盟（按：包括喬治城大學、雪城大學等強隊）冠軍。然而在一系列
醜聞爆發之後，再加上當年戰績不佳，賈維斯教練於 2003 年球季中遭到解聘，留下 110
勝 61 敗的戰績。
