這學期我修了『經濟學原理』
其實我們政治系大二就必修過『經濟學乙』
但是那時候很混 仗著期末考是 open book 平常都不唸書
期末考答題時自然是文不對題、不知所云 學期分數雖然及格但也是悽悽慘慘
現在 跟著農經系大一同學們一起修系上老師的課
我決定 這次一定要改頭換面 重新出發好好學起
這個老師開的課本是精裝厚厚一本的英文教材
課上板書也都是用英文寫（好像經濟系或管院的課好多都是這樣....）
他很喜歡在寫筆記時用一堆『縮寫字』
比如說：w/ 是 with、 w/t 是 without、 amt 是 amount、 csu 是 consumption 等等
（嘿嘿 我覺得用這些縮寫字抄起筆記來挺方便的
而沒想到 大學四年 我竟還是來這裡才學到這麼有趣的小小技巧....）
這門課不但有一般的教師授課 還有助教的實習時間
每次助教上實習課時 就會給我們一些作業 讓我們當場做完交或是回家寫
這次助教勾選了課本上的幾題作業 給我們當回家作業
我很認真地先讀完那一章 然後再開始寫那些習題
其中 有一題的題目是這樣的：
The town of Hatfield charges each resident $75 per year for water. The town
is running out of water.
a. What is the opportunity cost of water to the individual customer?
b. What is the opportunity cost of water to the town?
c. Is water scarce?
d. How might prices be used to solve the water shortage?
我很求好心切 除了都用英文答題之外 也比一般人寫得多很多
但是 等到實習課交了作業 助教開始解題後 我才發現
我剛剛交出去的那一張作業對助教來說可能是一個笑話
足以讓她 po 在班板上取悅她的朋友
該題正確答案如下：
a. $75
b. > $75
c. Yes.
d. water price > $75, so that D = S.
我的答案如下：
a. Since the opportunity cost of a particular action is the loss of the
next-best alternative, the opportunity cost of water to the individual
customer might be the charge of cable or internet for half year,
food supply, or electricity for whole family, etc.
b. The opportunity cost of water to the town might be the social welfare,
transport construction, or advanced education of the town.
c. In THIS occasion, water is scarce.
d. The residents of the town shall form an "ad hoc committee", and gather
all the money originally paid to the town hall. Since this town cannot
offer water to the people anymore, the residents could try to negotiate
with towns nearby and ask them for help. To sign a "water-carrying
contract" between the towns first is recommended.
我後來才發現我把第四題題目中的 price 理解成 money 的意思
不過 我懷疑 就算我瞭解題目真的要問什麼
寫那些硬掰硬塞申論題寫慣了的我有沒有這個自信和把握
能用幾個英文字母和數字拼湊起來當成答案就這樣交出去
唉～～
沒想到 就算是社會科學領域中也是對立重重
或許 我自己的問題還是大些
