Well,the boredom of vacations has got on my nerves.Although 12 hours
of sleep a day certainly helped make my skin glowingly crystalline,it
also inevitably dulled my senses and made me feel...vacant.That's why I
went to the movies this morning-to see if Brad Pitt could stimulate me
somehow.
Meet Joe Black,starring Brad Pitt,Anthony Hopkins,and Claire Farloni,
is a terribly romantic movie in my opinion.Though I've read plenty of
negative critics on web about its s-l-o-w motion and stale plot,I per-
sonally consider this film a success,or at least a breakthrough of its
kind,in terms of dealing with such heavy subjects as life and death.
From the very beginning of the 3-hour film,you get to feel that the
director is to deliver something quite different from the fast-pace,
sci-fi,Hollywood extravaganza.Instead,he tries to express his message
through a delicate,sentimental way.And by the way he handles the
movie's elegant photography and cinemography,you see that he's surely
done a pretty good job.Framed by all the splendid settings and lovely
music is an abundance of beautiful yet sophisticated human love.Whether
it's love between father and daughter or among lovers,this film deals
with it in such a tender and careful manner that the essence,rawness,
and beauty of it is all openly revealed.And this is what I call romance
-it's not just candle lights and roses,but the true feelings and carings
for one another.
As to the profound cast in the movie,besides Brad's brilliant performan
ce as Death,Claire and Anthony also do a wonderful job presenting the
mortal interpretation of true love.In all,the actors are spectacular,
none of them feels out of place.And the mixture of all of their complex
characters make the story all the more compelling.In addition,I have to
mention that Brad Pitt looks absolutely sexy in the film.Every glimpse
and sigh of him makes the whole audience scream and melt.
Well,I seem to be dragging a little bit.....blame it on the boredom!
Anyway,if you guys don't mind sitting in the movie house for 3 hours,I
strongly recommend Meet Joe Black-it'll let loose all your hidden emo-
tions and passions for life,and probably some new insights into the
afterlife!▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂
