I really got Ricky Martin to sign on my white shirt last night!!!
In effect,it was one of those adrenaline-rushing and yet stunningly
speechless moments that you regret for the rest of your life...
Anyway, today I'm only here to share with you another film I've seen in the
U.S.,which is called The Sixth Sense, starring Bruce Willis and an otherwise
unheard of yet equally brilliant cast.
First of all,I have to tell those who expect to see a pure horror film that
this isn't what you have in mind. But for those in search of a nicely crafted,
subtly performed, and shock-scene-interwoven movie, this one is worth your
bucks. Basically, the film deals with the theme of human relationships and
different attitudes to take amidst the ups and downs in life.
Willis, the once highly recognized shrink suffers from the inner guilt and
phsical wound delivered by a former patient. And he tries to regain his
reputation or even his confidence by taking the case of a seemlingly similar
child patient. The child, who's really the main actor of this movie, and who
presented a performance that can only be described as outstanding,is
outwardly edgy and restless, apparently haunted by some inner trauma. But after
a while,Willis finally breaks his mental and gets the confession that the
child actually sees and hears ghost. What's more, the ghosts that manifest
themselves to the poor nine-year-old mostly die in very horrible shape and
all seem to be in fiery rage.(there are some moments in which we get to share
the vision of the child-I got to tell you, they are REALLY scary, even for a
19-year-old)
So the remainder of this film revolves around the ever more intimate and
solid trust established between the "doc and freak."
What I like about this movie is that opposed to all the other Hollywood
extravaganza that package a bunch of meaningless and lame special effects
while offer little or none good story line,The 6th Sense does it the other
way.With a simple theme,the screenwright develops a smart plot,including
"meaningful" lines and believable scenes about human interaction. What's even
better is that the cast assembled in this project is simply wonderful.Except
the not-so-strong act put up by Willis, all the other actors transform the
delicately thought out screenplay into images honestly and vividly.Especially
the centerpiece of this whole film, the ghost-haunted child,is doubtlessly the
most talented actor, even by the adult standard.
In addition,this 2-hour picture promises a breathtaking surprise ending,which
of course I won't divulge. But with the carefully built creepy atmosphere, the
heartful performance, and the surprising twist at the end,The 6th Sense will
definitely make you leave the cinema touched,by the human emotional aspect,
and thrilled,by the scary subject and the intermitten shocking scenes,at the
same time. And what's really great is that the more you think about this movie
afterwards, the scarier it becomes! (some of the cuts are just so creative
that I can never picture them without getting the goosebumps)
In short, this is one of those terribly memorable movies that you really
should go and see,all the more so if you're tired of the numb and stupid
failures in the horror genre produced by Hollywood in recent years.
After it gets in the theaters here in Taiwan,I don't mind seeing it again
myself!

Heartbreaker you got the best of me
But I just keep on coming back incessantly
Oh why did you have to run your game on me
I should have known right from the start you'd go and break my heart
