I'm speechless right now....simply because I'm too overwhelmingly excited...
Well,I'm determined to talk about something extraordinarily note-worthy,and
definitely at great length,so for those of you who don't appreciate reading
through the whole article,just take notice of a few announcement I've got
right in the front:
1.I can't go to the scheduled class reunion on next Wed.,
because I've got a German class that evening.So don't
count me in.
Now let's get down to business..Oh my,I still can't cool myself off...I just
WITNESSED the brand new video of Mariah!!!After weeks of desperate waiting,
I finally got to see this magnificent piece of work!!!The single,Heartbreaker,
has been heavily played locally for the past couple of weeks,but its freshly
shot video hasn't been introduced to Taiwanese viewers until very possibly
last night via cable network.And due to the stupid German class yesterday,
I missed the TV premiere!(I'll never forgive myself for that...)
Anyway,I saw it for the first time just then on TVBS-G,and it was everything
I couuld have expected...and even more!Honestly Mariah really made some
breakthroughs in terms of her video-making.There even appeared some serious
fight scenes involving two Mariahs!
Well,let's go right back to the beginning.At first,Mariah,in her pink top and
a pair of worn,casual blue jeans,was chatting with her friends in a car,and
apparently they were comforting Mariah for something really heartbreaking-
which was,found out later on,her cheating boy friend who dumped her for
someone else.And all these girls then got out of the car and walked into a
fancy movie theater,which was showing,not surprisingly,a film called Heart-
breaker,and Mariah suddenly jumped onto the counter beside some bar girls
and started dancing,along with her friends and a couple of janitors.
All right,I have to admit that the dance sequence isn't MAriah's strongest
suit,in which she was not so agile and stunning as Janet or some other dance
queens,but we can definitely see her efforts at making it as good and clear-
cut as possible.After the group dance,which again,is already kind of a
breakthrough for her,Mariah continued walking into the movie house and sat
with her friends several rows behind "the heartbreaker"-her good-looking yet
not-committed ex-boyfriend.But by now we can see another twist to this whole
video-the girl that supposedly took the stud away from Mariah was also played
by Mariah!However,the bad girl was dressed in a completely different style of
clothes as the good one.wrapped in fiery red shirt and skirt,the black-haired
(another breakthrough!Mariah has never dyed her hair black!)Mariah showed the
pride and pamperedness wonderfully,and she kept teasing the boy with her cute
little dog.At that moment,the ally troops of the good Mariah in the back
started throwing popcorns at the couple,at which the bad Mariah dismissed
and walked toward the restroom to clean herself up.
Once in the restroom,the climax scene of this video was presented.The back-
ground music stopped,the good Mariah entered and patted her mirror-image on
the shoulder,said Excuuse me,and-
the bad Mariah turned and hit her counterpart right in the face!Infuriated,
the hit party attacked back with even scarier capacity.There went several
great stunts,including some fly-kicks,straight fist-hits,and also the most
amazing swing kick!Judging from both Mariahs' splendid acts on screen,she
must have spent lots of time practicing and rehearsing to deliver such a
first-class performance.
After the awe-inspiring girl fight,the camera shifted back to the bad boy in
the movie room,who was still heavily attacked by the girls in the back rows
by showering popcorns.And when the good MAriah finally came back and sat
next to him,the music slowly faded into the last part,which was an a cappela
version of the chorus.At the same time,she looked right into his shocked
eyes and poured a large glass of cold drink on his pants...The video ended
with a close-up shot of Mariah humming the song on the big screen,with an
expression that can only be called painfully charming and seductive.
All in all,this is indeed a very playfully comic and very close-to-life
presentation of a relationship that's gone sour as one participant cheats on
another.With the relaxing melody and the exaggeratingly amusing images,you
get to be entertained by this twists-and-turns-packed music video.
So whether you like dance scenes,fight scenes,or funny storylines,you can
find them in Mariah's latest work-Heartbreaker!!!
