The test standard of CLO is ISO 9920:1995(E)(Ergonomics of the thermal environment-Estimation of the thermal insulation and evaporative resistance of a clothing ensemble), or ASTM D1518-85 ( Standard Test Method for Thermal transition of Textile Material),
Icl = (Tsk-Tcl) / H
Icl : Thermal Insulation of clothing
Tsk: mean skin temperature
Tcl: mean surface temperature of clothed person
H: dry heat loss per square Meter ( convection, radia conduction from skin through clothing to the clothing surface )
Thermal Insulation 1 CLO = 0.155 ㎡.℃. / W
More information pls refer to the ISO 9920.
