[譯詩] Brian Turner, Improving for the Worse

＜為了變得更糟＞



我來自紐西蘭。
大部分人不知道那在哪，
或是那代表什麼意思。很好。

大部分紐西蘭人自己也不知道，
如果他們曾經知道過。悲哀啦。

我們全部都是孤島，徹底的被遺忘，
還假裝我們沒有。







Note:


１）我很喜歡這個紐西蘭詩人寫的東西！
這首我覺得把New Zealand（紐西蘭）和New Zealanders（紐西蘭人）
改成Taiwan（台灣）和Taiwanese（台灣人）也很貼切。

２）第七句的island原譯為島，經友人建議後改為孤島以凸顯其孤立無援的意味。
另，同句的lost除了被遺忘也有搞不清楚方向的意思。

I come from New Zealand.
Most people don't know where it is,
or what it stands for. Good.

Nor do most New Zealanders,
if they ever did. Sad.

All of us are islands, entirely lost,
pretending we are not.
