Inaccessibility Had I drawn your floating eyes, Before I finished they would have faded; Had I versified your freezing hands, Before I chanted they would have thawed. So, silent be the tongue, For it would wrap your beauty In a worse version; Frozen be the rhymes, For it would turn your purity Into a false presentation. My lady, still you want to get away? Go, sail on my flooding tears; Hope the gondola, moved by my devotion, Will lead you to my squalling heart.
