by
Virginia Clemm Poe(1846)
Ever with thee I wish to roam--
Dearest my life is thine.
Give me a cottage for my home
And a rich old cypress vine,
Removed from the world with its sin and care
And the tattling of many tongues.
Love alone shall guide us whe we are there--
Love shall deal my weakened lungs;
And Oh the tranquil hours we'll spend,
Never wishing that others may see!
Perfect ease we'll enojoy, without thinking to lend
Ourselves to the world and its glee--
Ever peaceful and blissful we'll be.

這是Poe的太太Virginia於1846年送給他的情人節禮物。
每一行的開頭第一個字母連起來正是Poe的名字,據傳這是一種當時流行的
格式。
