Whispered Words Whisper words of tomorrow, Of sorrow forever felt. And I'd have life to borrow, For in the morrow life hath dealt With all the sighs of life-long lies And tainted trust which fades and dies. Tell me tales of what's to come, Of things undone with simple eyes. Laugh the bitter laughs Of memories of the future -- Those which cannot nurture, Or console the soul in torture. Await the fate no patience sate, And slake the thirst of love lost late. For tomorrow comes. The sorrows have sung, The morning glory of the descending sun. Whisper words of all the yesterdays -- Of ways my life I dealt. And the past before the weary lays Of regret I have felt. With hindsight eyes and woe the cries Of wondered why's (which ne'er fades nor dies.) Sing me songs of ancient glory, Of stories of forgotten prides. Breathe the breaths already taken -- Those which cannot waken, Or part the paths retaken. Recall the fall remembered by all. And stall what has been throughout all. For there it has broken, There lies the token -- The evening meaning often misspoken. Whisper not words of tomorrow, But of sorrow never felt. Whisper not words of yesterday -- The way my life I have dealt. For I don't desire the forgotten fire, Or what expires of things I cannot change. And I would like to live, Whispered words Life can give Only in this present age. caesiousatrous -- ╭─────────────────────────╮ "To spell out the obvious is often to call it in question." -- Eric Hoffer ╰──────────◇ http://dale.distract.org ◇╯ -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 218.167.214.77
