To King and Country

Young and vigorous,
Always ready, awaiting
My humble estate, arms abandoned
To each demand a friendly greeting
Stage all set, though never closed
Symphony of life as a circling ring.

Roaming the plain, alone
"Maples be cleansed", as winter might claim.
Standing alone in famine and cold
While bearing in mind my household name
Watching over until generations pass on,
Guardian am I, by diligent or blame
Sieges in string while confidence endure
To be in control while planning the game.

"Come! Come!
I am a doctor, as is a priest.
Healing hands unselfish and kind
Preaching gospel from west to east,
For those in need I lend me whole,
Remedy to sprinkle, or Manna to feast!"

Eighteen windows all flung open
Chilling blizzards pouring in,
Stripped of sunshine, energy in need
Sharp arrows to pierce the skin,
Curtains made not for certain protection,
Just privacy to seal, with cloths so thin.
What forces the soul in quiver
Accepting with what blazes to spin
Once was lost, but never again,
Warm welcome home, of blood and close kin!
Fearing not what sacrifice to give,
Benevolent devotion by passions within.

What winter spills I return with spring,
Machines in waste I restore and complete.
No greed attached, or desire arise
But for the taste of bitter and sweet
That experience be the priceless treasure
While clinging firm on bonds of concrete.
