Disclaimer: this is just my personal interpretation.

: I was sitting across from the rotating sign
: For the Liberty Brass Turning Company
Main setting, nothing special.

: "Automatic Screw Machine Products"
We see the sign, and it's pretty ordinary.

: And brooding about our fathers
: Always on the make to make more money
These two lines signify a dislike of fathers when they only care about making
more money.

: "Screw Machine Products Automatic"
Accordingly, this reading of the sign expresses anger at automatic machine
products.

: Tender wounded brassy unsystematic
: Free American men obsessing about margins
These two lines say how American men are slaves to their money ("obsessing
about margins").

: "Machine Products Automatic Screw"
So, this reading of the sign states that the machine products are screwing
over people.

: Selling every day of their God-damned lives
: To some Liberty Brass Turning Company
These two lines state that workers are slaving their lives away for a mere
company, turning themselves into machines.

: "Products Automatic Screw Machine"
Therefore, this reading of the sign can be interpreted as saying, "With us
workers here, the products come out automatically, so who needs machines?
Screw the machines."

: Until they were screwed into boxes
: And planted in plots paid and unpaid
And finally, this depicts the tragic, meaningless end for loyal workers.

: "Automatic Screw Machine Products"
So, even though we see the sign as it was first presented, it is infused with
a new meaning: "Workers are automatically screwed by machine products."

I just realized that this poem condemns both Marxism and capitalism. Genius!
