Does anyone every wear earrings purchased from "Swarovski"?
I am almost finishing my 1.5 month healing period and
now looking for new earrings.
I couldn't figure if their products are allergic -free from their website
(http://shop.swarovski.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/eCS/Store/en_US/-/USD/SW_BrowseCatalog-Start?CategoryName=020104028)
and their reply seems to be ambiguous...(see below)
*********************
Swarovski Jewelry is fashion jewelry,
created using top-quality Swarovski crystal stones.
The metal parts are made largely of gold-, silver-
or rhodium-plated white metal plated over a barrier plate of copper and nickel,
which is the usual process for fashion jewelry used in the United States.
If you have had a reaction to earrings, you are not alone.
About 10 to 15% of females may be allergic to nickel.
Swarovski minimizes the impact by only using 14KT gold posts
(and to a lesser extent surgical stainless steel posts) on all its earrings.
On other products, we exceed minimum standards for the thickness of plating
required, for instance, on gold plated articles, we exceed the standards
for 'Gold Electroplate" to minimize any problems.
Despite these precautions, there will be times when cases of allergies
to fashion jewelry do occur. If this is the case, we recommend that you
do not wear our jewelry. As an alternative, some people coat their
favorite dermatitis producing earrings with nail lacquer and can thus
wear the earrings for a few hours without symptoms appearing. If this is
not an acceptable alternative, perhaps you can find some other articles
in our product range which will also convey the magic of crystal and
give you an equal amount of pleasure. We sincerely hope so.
Hoping to have been of service, I am
Sincerely yours,
Barbara Mazza
