[問題] 幾題托褔文法想請教

1. "Did the audience participate in the play?"
   "Yes, the actors ______ to involve the audience were successful."

 答案為whose function it was。這題是考關代我懂，只是疑惑"it was"兩字
 在這裡的功能或意義是什麼?

2. Constructed in Chicago in 1883, the Home Insurance Building was the
   first building in the world [that] the floors and the exterior masonry
   walls were supported by a skeleton framework of metal.

 這題考的是改錯。答案是將框起來的[that]改為where，我想問為什麼用that不行？

3. There is no work whatever [what] he can criticize.
 這題也是改錯。答案是框起來的[what]改成but，想請問為什麼用but?



以上三題，幾個人都討論不出結果，想借助版上眾多高手解題，還請大家幫幫忙！

→ zofloya:2 子句少的是副詞，不是少代名詞，所以要用關係副詞where
→ zofloya:3 but在這是which...not...的意思，這裡有先行詞work，所

→ zofloya:還有我覺得第三題的whatever用whatsoever比較順口
