舉個例:
Lemma: Let X and Y be varieties, let φ and ψ be two morphisms

Definition: Let X and Y be varieties. A rational map φ: X -> Y
is an equivalence class of pairs <U,φ|_U> where U is nonempty
open subset of X, φ|_U is a morphism of U to Y, and where <U,φ|_U>
and <V,φ|_V> are equivalent if φ_U and φ_V agree on U∩V.
如果沒有上面的 Lemma, 下面 Definition 中的 equivalence,
你是不知道的.
