請教一下證明

Let f be continuous on [a,b]. If f(a)<0<f(b) or f(b)<0<f(a),then there is a
number c between a and b for which f(c)=0
因為這題我書本上的英文證明看不懂
可以幫忙解答一下嗎

還有另外一題

Rolle's theorem

Let g be differentiable on the open intervel(a,b) and continuous on the closed
interval [a,b].If g(a)=g(b),then there is at least one number c in (a,b) for
which g'(c)=0
這題我不會証
書上也沒有

為什麼要連續才會有最大和最小值存在阿?
如果沒有連續最大和最小值不是也會存在嗎

因為這幾題當中有一題證明有用到lub{x:f is bounded on [a,x]}
可以請教一下是什麼意思嗎
